Yes, I will admit it, I am a huge Star Trek fan. I’ve seen every episode multiple times and I own all the movies (yes, even Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, which as far as I’m concerned shouldn’t be considered part of the canon because SPOCK DOESN’T HAVE A BROTHER!! But I digress…). But then there’s NASA. And everyone says that we shouldn’t fund NASA because it doesn’t “get” us anything, that it’s a waste of money, especially when there are so many other problems out there. Yeah yeah yeah. Sure, but then you get cool stuff like this view of the Nile from the International Space Station. Or this view of Italy. Or this view of the moon and our atmosphere. Or how about the comet Lovejoy? Seriously cool stuff.
Now, if only it were as easy as it looks in Star Trek. Seriously, it looks like you can’t even walk in the suits that astronauts wear today. And I do have that pesky lack of a degree in astrophysics. Details, shmetails.
